Francis was born and raised in the southern-most island of the Philippines, Mindanao. Her introduction to art began as a child being exposed to the artworks produced by her father, who ran a signage business established by her grandfather. Francis’ first art lessons were under the tutelage of her father, who nurtured his daughter’s artistic talent. From thereon, Francis developed a deep passion in painting subjects that inspired her.
Moving to Vancouver, Francis continued to expand her training by attending various workshops in an art academy and an atelier to broaden her drawing and painting skills. Herradura is actively participating with the Dimasalang III International Artists Group in Vancouver. She credits the founder of the Dimasalang Group, Sofronio Ylanan Mendoza (SYM), who reinforced the value of the basics and fundamentals of art, as one of her main influences. Her interaction with a respected senior Dimasalang artist, Edgardo Latin, together with other members, further encouraged her pursuit of the arts.
She has participated in several group exhibitions held at the Vancouver Public Library, Philippine Consulate in Vancouver, Vancouver Asian Heritage, Surrey Art Centre and other community gatherings.
Herradura is a member of the Oil Painters of America.
Francis’s inspiration from her roots and heritage is expressed in her paintings that it showcase the colorful beauty of a unique culture.
